For over 2000 years, God has patiently been imploring mankind to repent so as to be admitted into His Kingdom. It all began with Christ Himself, of Whom it is written:
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:14 -15)
He would later send His twelve disciples to do the same: And He called unto Him the twelve … And they went out, and preached that men should repent (Mark 6:7,12)
At another time, we are told that Christ appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, whither He Himself would come, and commanded them to say unto the people … The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you (Luke 10:1,9)
After His crucifixion, death and burial, Christ rose from the dead the third day; and just before His Ascension to Heaven, He intimated His disciples that the message of repentance should go global saying to them “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:47).
He further instructed them to wait in Jerusalem until He would send His Holy Spirit upon them before the global outreach could start (Acts 1:4); …ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).
About 120 followers of Christ obeyed the instruction, and a couple of days later, on a day that is referred to in Scripture as the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1), it happened.
The coming of the Holy Ghost upon the 120 was attended by supernatural phenomena, including people from about seventeen nations dwelling in Jerusalem that heard the disciples spoke in their languages “the wonderful works of God” (Acts 2:8-11).
After Apostle Peter addressed the amazement, doubts, and even mocking of some of the people, by explaining from the Scripture of the prophets that the event the people witnessed was a fulfilment of prophecy, the people “were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:12-37)
Peter answered their question with the instruction Jesus gave them … “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins… Save yourselves from this untoward generation” (Acts 2:38, 40)
Apostle Peter, in addressing the wonder and amazement of the Jews at another supernatural event – the healing by him and apostle John of a beggar that was lame from his mother’s womb, he told them that the miracle was as a result of faith in the Name of Jesus (Acts 3:16). He concluded his speech telling the people …Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (Act 3:19)
This warning of God for men to repent has been going on for over 2000 years.
And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man (Genesis 6:3).
Yet many today are defiant and some ignorant.
But the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man (Jesus Christ) Whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead (Acts 17:30-31).
Friend, if you have not received Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, please heed God’s warning now!
Save yourself from this untoward (unpredictable) generation – it will end very soon and give way to the Kingdom of God. Repent TODAY, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
